brian d foy a Simon Cozens, autore della nuova edizione di Advanced Perl Programming, prevista per l'estate 2005.
You've updated Advanced Perl Programming by Sriram Srinivasan. How much is different is the new version?
It's very different; in fact it's fair to say that it's a different book with the same title. Sriram's book was excellent, but it was a product of its time. Nobody knew back then what we'd be doing with Perl eight years down the line.
I've tried to maintain the ethos of the original book: to teach the Perl programmer what they need to know to do their job more effectively. But what it means to be an advanced Perl programmer has changed. Eight years ago, an advanced Perl programmer was someone who knew who to write modules, or mess with the Perl internals; nowadays, an advanced Perl programmer is someone who knows their way around the CPAN, and that's what I've focused on in the book.
